SWA was created as a camp for kids in foster care, other out-of-home-care and kids who have been adopted. Though we have expanded our programing to include other groups of children, the foster/adoptive community remains a primary focus. We have a strong belief in (and have witnessed first hand) the benefit of bringing together children who have experienced similar transformative life events. Our low camper to staff ratio allows us to interact personally with each camper throughout the trip and our small group size means that we generally form a close bond over the course of our travels. Our goal is to provide an environment in which each camper has a chance to experience adventure and growth within an understanding and supportive environment.
