Squeaky Wheel Adventures Eco-Friendly Bus Offering Trips to
Separated Siblings and Children in Foster Care Being Unveiled
at the American Folk Festival
Surry, ME – August 20, 2007 – After over two years
of hard work Squeaky Wheel Adventures’ 1963 40’ environmentally-friendly
bus, fuel by vegetable oil and solar power, is ready and will
be on display during the 2007 American Folk Festival in Bangor,
Maine August 24 - 27. During the unveiling, there will be opportunity
to explore the bus, and learn about their program and alternative
fuel sources.
Squeaky Wheel Adventures (SWA) is a non profit 501(c)3 organization
which focuses on reuniting brothers and sisters separated by
foster care and other out-of-home care for multi-day road trips
in our converted 1963 “earth friendly” bus. Each
trip uniquely blends fun, adventure, and self exploration and
growth while seeking to strengthen the sibling connection.
Their goal is not about locating a brother or a sister, but
rather about reuniting siblings that may live in the same town,
maybe even attend the same school, but live in separate homes.
The importance of their relationship is often overlooked even
though this bond may be their longest lasting relationship
in life. These children are often not given the chance to share
valuable childhood memories and experiences and the time they
spend together may be limited or non existent.
Perhaps SWA is taking an unconventional approach to achieving
their goal, but Bryan states, “We believe that the uniqueness
of our trips will provide a diversified experience that will
give the opportunity for personal growth while at the same
time fostering sibling relationships.”
The bus will be located in front of the Bangopr Civic Center
at the festival shuttle pick-up.

Road Trips for Separated Siblings Becoming a reality in Maine
Surry, ME – December 19, 2005 – What started a
year ago as a dream for Bryan And Alyssa Wolf of Surry, Maine,
is quickly becoming a reality. The Wolf’s originally
founded a Maine based non profit organization, Material Comforts,
in 2001 with the mission of providing homemade quilts for children
in foster care. The Wolfs hoped that their quilts might be
a token of comfort that the children can take with them on
each of their moves, providing some warmth and familiarity
in profoundly uncertain times.
As the quilts found their way to the children, the Wolfs met
other caring individuals and experienced a growing awareness
of the extent of the needs of kids in care. Squeaky Wheel Adventures
(SWA) is the next step in a growing desire to be more actively
involved with the children themselves, providing not only “material
comfort” but a joyful, fun filled, and educational adventure
to be treasured and remembered in the company of a brother
or sister, other children of similar ages and backgrounds,
and caring adults.
Squeaky Wheel Adventures (SWA) is a non profit 501(c) 3 organization
which reunites brothers and sisters separated by foster care
and other out-of-home care for multi-day road trips in our
converted 1963 “earth friendly” bus. Each trip
uniquely blends fun, adventure, and self exploration and growth
while seeking to strengthen the sibling connection.
The creation of SWA has been no small undertaking, but the
Wolf’s belief in the value of their program has provided
the necessary determination to push forward. “We are
both excited and humbled by the support that we have received
over the last year and are staying focused on this coming summer
(2006) as we load-up and hit the road.”, says Bryan. “Any
time I get overwhelmed by all that is left to do, I simply
imagine the kids looking out the window as we travel, cooking
with their siblings, sitting around the campfire at night,
sharing a “birthday” with their siblings....and
I get all the energy I need.”
